Highly Resistant Cultivars in the Austin Study

To appear on this page the cultivar must be in the Austin study and either one other study or have 2 or more Austin Study observations with scores >= 1.0 and < 1.10.
Many of these cultivars are still in the Austin Trial.

These daylilies have scores greater than or equal to 1.0 and less than 1.1 in the Austin Study.
A Lucille Warner introduction from 1963. In both the the Austin and Daylily Rust.org studies. A very vigorous daylily that increases very rapidly. This is one of the few evergreen daylilies that will bloom throughout the year in the south. There are many anecdotal accounts of this being a highly rust resistant daylily. Received a score of 1.00 in the Austin Study with 6 observations. Was added to the trial in the spring of 2023.
A Elizabeth Anne Salter introduction from 2011. In the Mississippi and Austin Studies. Received a score of 1.00 in the Austin Study with 4 observations. Was added to the trial in the spring of 2022.
A Carl S. Milliken introduction from 1948. In the Daylily Rust.org and Austin studies. Received the 1956 Stout Medal. Received a score of 1.00 in the Austin Study with 2 observations. Was added to the trial in the fall of 2023.
A Brian Reeder introduction from 2021. In the Austin study with a score of 1.00 with 5 observations. From Sun Dragon Daylilies breeding program for rust resistance. Has shown no fan increase in 1 year. Was added to the trial in the spring of 2022.
A John J. Temple introduction from 1990. In the Austin study with a score of 1.00 with 2 observations. Has shown no moderate fan increase from 3 to 5 fans in 2 years. Was added to the trial in the fall of 2023.
A Sarah L. Sikes introduction from 1988. In the Arkansas, Daylily Rust.org and Austin studies. Received a score of 1.00 in the Austin Study with 3 observations. Has never been in the trial
A Doris Simpson introduction from 1994. In the Arkansas, Daylily Rust.org and Austin Studies. Received a score of 1.01 with 4 observations in the Austin Study. Was added to the Austin Trial in the fall of 2023.
A Albert C. Faggard introduction from 1985. In the Austin study with a score of 1.01 and 4 observations. A very vigorous daylily. Showed increase from 11 to 20 fans in 1 year. There are some anecdotal reports of high rust resistance. Was added to the trial in the fall of 2023.
A Arthur M. Kroll introduction from 1992. In the Buck and Austin studies. Received a score of 1.01 with 5 observations in the Austin Study. Was added to the trial in the fall of 2023.
A John R. Lambert Jr. introduction from 1983. In the Austin study with a score of 1.01 and 2 observations. Has shown no fan increase in 3 years. Was added to the trial in the spring of 2023.
A E. R. (Enman) Joiner introduction from 1988. In the Daylily Rust.org and Austin studies. Received a score of 1.01 with 5 observations in the Austin Study. Has shown excellent fan increase after 18 months to settle in, went from 4 to 8 fans in weeks. Was added to the trial in the spring of 2022.
A Lucille Warner introduction from 1976. In the Austin study with a score of 1.01 with 5 observatins. Always one of the earliest daylilies to bloom in central texas. Very vigorous and while registered as a dormant behaves as an Evergreen in zone 8. Showed good fan increase from 4 to 7 fans in 1 year. Not currently in the trial.
A Elizabeth M. Hudson introduction from 1981. In the Arkansas, Daylily Rust.org and Austin Study with a score of 1.01 and 3 observations. Has shown no fan increase over 2 years. Was added to the trial in the spring of 2023.
A Patrick Michael Stamile introduction from 2008. In the Austin study with a score of 1.02 and 3 observations. Has shown very slow fan increase, adding a fan every few years. Was added to the trial in the fall of 2022.
A Brian Reeder introduction from 2021. In the Austin study. Received a score of 1.02 in the Austin Study with 5 observations. From Sun Dragon Daylilies breeding program for rust resistance. Has shown good fan increase from 3 to 4 fans in 1 year. Was added to the trial in the spring of 2023.
A Grace Stamile introduction from 1993. In the Mississippi, Daylily Rust.org and Austin studies. With a score of 1.02 with 1 observation in the Austin Study. Showed excellent increase from 4 to 10 fans in 1 year. Needs morning only sun in Austin Texas, can't handle unrelenting 100 degree days. Not currently in the trial.
A Curt Hanson introduction from 2000. In the Austin study with a score of 1.03 and 6 observations. Has shown no fan increase in 1 year. Was added to the trial in the fall of 2022.
A Clarence J. Crochet introduction from 1985. In the Arkansas, Daylily Rust.org and Austin Study with a score of 1.03 and 2 observations. Not very vigorous, has decreased in fans from 4 to 2 in 1 year. Not currently in the trial.
A George Lenington introduction from 1964. In the Arkansas and Austin, Daylily Rust.org studies. Received a score of 1.03 in the Austin Study with 5 observations. Has shown excellent fan increase from 4 to 18 fans in 18 months. Has finished it's trial.
A Patrick Michael Stamile introduction from 2008. In the Austin study with a score of 1.03 with 3 observations. Shows slow fan increase in Austin Texas. Not currently in the trial.
A George E. Lenington introduction from 1969. In the Austin Study with a score of 1.03 and 6 observations. Has shown excellent fan increase from 4 to 9 fans in 1 year, after settling in for a year. Was added to the trial in the fall of 2023.
A Elizabeth Anne Salter introduction from 2005. In the Mississippi and Austin Study with a score of 1.03 and 3 observations. Has shown good fan increase from 6 to 9 fans in 6 months. Was added to the trial in the fall of 2022.
A Wilbur M. Harling, Jr. introduction from 1978. In both the the Austin and Daylily Rust.org studies. A very vigorous daylily with excellent fan increase from 5 to 12 fans in 1 year. This daylily blooms for at least 60 days in central texas. There are many anecdotal accounts of this being a highly rust resistant daylily. Received a score of 1.04 in the Austin Study with 6 observations. Was added to the trial in the fall of 2020.
An unregistered cultivar often mistaken for the registered one. In the Buck and Austin studies. This cultivar is sold by Oakes and others. Received a score of 1.04 in the Austin Study with 3 observations. Showed excellent fan increase went from 4 to 10 fans in 1 year. Not currently in the trial.
A Jan Joiner introduction from 1998. In the Mississippi and Austin studies. Received a score of 1.04 in the Austin Study with 4 observations. Was added to the trial in the spring of 2023. It's too soon to report on fan increase.
A James Gossard introduction from 2006. In the Austin study. Received a score of 1.04 in the Austin Study with 5 observations. Showed excellent fan increase went from 4 to 9 fans in 9 months. Not currently in the trial.
A Lemoine J. Bechtold introduction from 1950. In the Arkansas, Daylily Rust.org and Austin Studies. Received a score of 1.04 in the Austin Study with 5 observations. Showed excellent fan increase from 4 to 11 fans in 15 months. Has finished it's trial.
A Joe Agosta introduction from 2006. In the Mississippi and Austin studies. Received a score of 1.04 in the Austin Study with 3 observations. Showed excellent increase for 3 to 7 fans in 1 year. Foliage always looks great in Austin. Have observed crown rot in one clump out of three. Not currently in the trial.
A Lori-Ann Jones introduction from 2011. In the Austin Study. Received a score of 1.05 in the Austin Study with 5 observations. Has shown excellent fan increase from 5 to 12 fans in 1 year. Was added to the trial in the spring of 2022.

A E. R. (Enman) Joiner introduction from 2006. In the Austin study with a score of 1.06 and 4 observations. Has shown excellent fan increase from 4 to 10 fans in less than a year. It also suffers from crown rot and can disappear quickly. Was added to the trial in the spring of 2022.
